Whew! I just finished my typography class. I've got two weeks left on another class, then almost a month off before classes begin again. In the meantime, typographic goodness fills my life, including...

College catalogs EVERYWHERE (along with dreams of fitting in a Master's degree one day)...

The world's sweetest herb markers (made by my super talented BFF)....

And a book I picked up in celebration of my finished typography final.

New Color Mixing Book...

After that whole red + blue does not = purple incident, I thought this book might be helpful. I am currrently using acrylics and watercolors. Unit Four is working in oils. I like that this book covers them all!

The View From My Nightstand...

"At the turn from our bedroom into the hallway, there is an old full-length mirror in a wooden frame. I can't help but catch a glimpse of myself as I pass. Turning fully toward the glass, I consider what I see. This reflected version of myself, wet, shaking, rumpled, pinched, and slightly stooped, would be alarming were it not for the self-satisfied expression pasted across my face. I would ask the obvious question, "what are you smiling about?' but I already know the answer: "It just get's better from here."

I have an incredible sister-in-law. (Actually, I don't like the "in-law" part because it makes her sound one step removed from a real sister and she is absolutely a real sister, so let's start over....)

I have an incredible sister. She got me THIS book for my birthday. The bathtub is my reading spot of choice. DC {dear cowboy} has had to poke his head into the bathroom several times the last couple of nights to make sure I didn't drown because I've spent a ridiculous amount of time submerged in bubbles and reading. So-so-so good.

This book is a sure-fire antidote to cynicism.

I've been reading Lyric Kinard's new book: Art + Quilt: Design Principles and Creativity Exercises and I am loving it. My favorite part of the first chapter is a small section written by Laura Carter-Woods, begun with this quote:

"Creativity belongs to the artist in each of us. To create means to relate. The root meaning of the word art is to fit together and we all do this every day. Not all of us are painters, but we are all artists. Each time that we fit things together we are creating--- whether it is to make a loaf of bread, a child, a day."
